Community Assessment, April 2004
United Way of Central Ohio

CRP conducted a community assessment to assist United Way of Central Ohio in undertaking a major planning process to identify community needs and service gaps and reexamining the community goals and objectives that are the foundation of its community impact agenda. CRP's work included social and demographic indicators, focus groups, key informant interviews, literature review, and a resource inventory.

The comprehensive report outlines community conditions in Central Ohio, incorporating data from multiple original and secondary sources including 50 key informant interviews, 18 focus groups, United Way of Central Ohio donor and agency staff Web survey, demographic and social indicator data, local planning documents, human services funding inventory, and a literature review. Conditions in the following areas are described: basic and emergency needs, critical need areas, education, employment, health, housing, neighborhood development, race relations/diversity, and safety.
